Conferences
GPUG Summit

GPUG Summit  is being held in Las Vegas November 9 – 11 so there are only a few weeks left to register.

Are you still on the fence and wondering how Summit differs from Convergence? The best explanation we’ve heard so far is that it is like a night club vs a coffee shop.

Convergence is the Night Club.  It is big and bold, flashy, fast-paced and packed with powerful keynotes about new products and trends coming down the pipe in the big, wonderful world of Microsoft Dynamics. You’ll get some tips and tricks and learnings that you can use now and in the future.  You’ll love it and walk away inspired and excited for the future and 'what's next' for Dynamics.

Summit is the coffee shop.  It is a more intimate, focused setting. Its sole purpose is to provide unique experiences for Dynamics GP Users to have real, honest conversations with other Users about what technologies they're using, what's working, what's not, how they've solved specific issues, or how someone else in the same role uses GP.  The interactions with Dynamics GP senior leaders come in the form of intimate Conduit meetings and the quick-fire Town Hall meeting. You’ll love it just the same and walk away with actionable solutions, new connections, and answers to your most urgent Dynamics GP questions. Check out this preview video.

Thinking about going?  Please let us know.  We will have a team in attendance and would like to coordinate Encore customers meeting other Encore customers!

Are you are among the millions of users still running Internet Explorer v 6.0, Office 2003 or Windows XP? These products were introduced in 2001 - that's already 10 years ago!!  Their end-of-life date is 2014.

If you aren’t running the latest version of these or any other Microsoft product, what’s stopping you from learning more about them?

In a recent Microsoft presentation Kevin Turner, Microsoft's Chief Operating Officer said "too many customers around the world define Microsoft and partners by old versions of Windows and Office." If you are on an older operating system you’ll be happy to know that Windows 7 is the highest quality operating system Microsoft has ever put out.  Encore has been using it since its beta release and we love its great new features like Jump Lists and the Snipping Tool.

Encore is ‘Walking the Talk’ with you.  We are running Office 365 which was just released at the end of June. This means the Encore team can collaborate better with each other and external parties.  Encore is currently in final testing of CRM 2011 which was released this spring and expects to upgrade the existing environment later this month. We are looking forward to leveraging the new dashboards and having better integration with Office products.

Learn more about new products that are available.  Contact us and we will be happy to give you all the details.

Tip and Trick

Many times, users will add the Aging Buckets from the Customer Cards to a SmartList and then wonder why the balances are zero.  It's a simple answer.

If your firm constantly runs the aging reports and then changes to a SmartList inquiry, it is necessary to run the Aging Routine under Sales->Routines to calculate the aging amounts and populate the aging buckets.  Until this is done, the buckets are empty.  The aging buckets do not automatically update each day.  The aging process sets the values in the buckets and the numbers remain unchanged until the process in run again.

The process can be run as of a specified date to recalculate the aging as of, for example, the first of last month.  This assumes that history is being maintained and recent history has not been purged.

Record Notes (those free form notes you type into the "post-it note" pad) are ALL stored in the SYS03900 table. That means that the notes for purchasing, sales, inventory, even payroll are all stored in the one table.

There is a field in the table called NOTEINDX that is used to relate the note in the SY03900 table to a note contained in other tables.

Each other table that stores records that have notes attached also have a NOTEINDX field.  For example, the Sales Transaction Work table (SOP10100) has a NOTEINDX field.  Relating the two tables by the NOTEINDX field allows a report to print all (or selected) sales order documents with the notes associated.

A Left Outer Join is recommended with the SOP10100 table on the left and the SY03900 on the right.  This allows all sales order header records to be selected and notes for any orders that have notes.

This can be accomplished using any report writer.  If you are using the GP Report Writer, see technote article 874983 for instructions for establishing a link (you may need to change the host tables depending on what host tables you wish to link to notes).
