With the release of Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 you are no longer able to create a new company in the Dynamics NAV Development Environment (Classic Client) using File->Company->New
Instead you now have two options.
The first is to use the Windows Client (RTC)
This can be found by navigating to “CRONUS Canada, Inc./Departments/Administration/IT Administration/General/Companies”
Where you are able to create and copy companies using actions found in the ribbon.
The second option is to use “Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 Administration Shell”
First thing to note when using this is that you should “Right Click” “Run as Administrator”.
If you do not you will run into errors along the lines of “Access Denied. You must be a member of the local admin group”.
Next powershell will kick in. To add a new company use the CmdLet “New-NavCompany”, it will ask for the name of the company.
Then it will ask for the Server Instance Name; this is the piece that follows the port number when connecting to an instance of NAV (localhost:7046/DynamicsNAV71)
