What was Microsoft CustomerSource?

Most on-premise Dynamics customers (Dynamics GP, Dynamics NAV, Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM, etc.) know what Microsoft CustomerSource is – it has been their go-to portal for all things related to their Dynamics software. Clients would go to CustomerSource to download software updates and hotfixes, submit support cases to Microsoft directly, and even just search for product news and knowledge base articles. Back in the day, it even used to be a good source of self-paced training as well (but that functionality has been out-of-date for several versions). Navigating the portal itself was never a smooth experience, but it was a useful tool for Dynamics customers, nevertheless.

Where do you go now?

It is probably not a surprise to some of our customers that CustomerSource is being revamped. In an effort to provide a greater level of product documentation to everyone, Microsoft has moved much of their product content to a new portal,, where it is easier to find and access information. However, you will still be required to login to download products and service packs/hotfixes. Your credentials that were used to login to CustomerSource have been migrated to the new platform.

Product content has been moved to This is a well-organized site where you can find everything you need to know about Dynamics products – version information and What’s New Guides, module information, system requirements for every supported version of the software, and links to product blogs and resources for the latest information. This provides a much more pleasant experience than the old CustomerSource site.
