GL Budget Import Exception Report in Dynamics GP

With the release of Dynamics GP 2016, we’ve pulled together some relevant info about the new features that can help your organization run a little smoother. Check the Encore blog often to see posts about the new features we’re especially excited about!

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 includes a Budget Import Exception Report when you upload a budget from Excel.  The exception report will identify two issues:

  1. An account has been duplicated in the Excel import file
  2. An account is not valid in the Excel import file

It is very easy to have duplicate accounts or invalid accounts in a large Excel spreadsheet.  If there are duplicate accounts, the Budget Wizard will only import the first line and ignore the other duplications.  Invalid accounts are ignored all-together.

The Exception Report will identify the account and the reason why it is on the report, as shown in the example below:

If you are on a version previous to GP2016, I would recommend that when you upload a budget from Excel, you immediately export the budget in GP back into Excel to compare the two files to ensure that the numbers are the same.
