I am excited to announce that around 50 people are attending the GPUG Executive Briefing. Encore Team Members (4) and Encore Customers (6 Companies, 12 Users) represent 16 of those attendees.
This annual event kicked off with a Microsoft Campus tour with the first session starting at 1 pm. This 2 half-day event is especially cool simply because it is hosted at the Fargo ND Microsoft Campus, in the Commons Building.
Today, in 4 1/2 hours we covered the highlights of Dynamics GP 2013, focusing on some of the key features in the Service Pack 2 release, and the 11 available reporting tools for Dynamics GP all shown by Microsoft Program Managers on the GP Web Client hosted on Azure (hosted somewhere in the West).
Some key points to mention:
- Microsoft Program Managers once again encouraged users to vote and/or submit GP improvements via Microsoft Connect. They review new submissions every week in their planning meetings.
- Business Portal is getting phased out with the launch of the Web Client. In the next few Service Pack releases the Business Portal function will be built within the Web Client or as an App.
- As of Service Pack 2, all modules are accessible via the web client…well, except Canadian Payroll. Microsoft has acknowledged that Canadian Payroll is currently on the list for development.
- We should see the next service pack for Dynamics in the first half of 2014.
There was so much covered today, I simply can’t share it all in one sitting…If you haven’t signed up for a GPUG Membership, I highly suggest you do! And if you have the opportunity to attend a Chapter Meeting or Executive Briefing, it’s certainly worth the time.
Tomorrow are the breakout sessions – Can’t wait!
