On Premise & Cloud = Business Saviour

A Combination Deployment Approach of Both on Premise and in the Cloud Computing Proves to be a Business Saviour

There is much talk these days about deployment options for business applications. The historical method has been on premise – where all your business applications are deployed on hardware you own and operate.  Recently, more business applications have been made available for deployment “in the cloud”, meaning the application is installed and maintained on hardware located somewhere other than your physical location.  But gaining in popularity is a combination of both methods.  Some applications are deployed in the cloud and some of the more critical applications are still deployed on premise.

Cloud-Computing

Over the last couple of years, Encore chose to move some business applications from on premise to the cloud and on June 29 that decision proved to be a business savior!

Hopefully you didn’t notice any service interruption in your dealings with Encore as a result of the fire we had in our server room that night.  Yes – our server room!  For our business, the server room IS our business. But because of the decision made to use Office 365 (email in the cloud) our team was able to maintain communication with each other, customers, vendors, business partners and prospects throughout the entire business resumption efforts and for the most part unbeknownst to anyone that our Winnipeg office building was in complete disarray. The Encore website, again hosted elsewhere, remained operational and we were able to continue to conduct business as usual.
