What Is Encore’s 2024 On-Premise to Cloud ERP Assessment? 

As an Account Manager, I’m always excited to meet with my clients and provide them with the latest important information about their Dynamics products. Currently, I have the opportunity to discuss our on-premise to cloud assessment.

This assessment is a way for us at Encore to help our on-premise Dynamics ERP users map their pathway to a Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution in the cloud.

What Is the Assessment?

Encore’s on-premise to cloud ERP assessment is a baseline technical and functional overview designed to provide clients with high-level guidance for moving their on-prem solution to the cloud.

It leverages Microsoft’s AIM assessment tool, and provides on-premise clients the opportunity to explore the benefits of moving to a cloud solution. The report the client receives includes insights, analysis, and guidance on next steps in their journey to a Microsoft 365 cloud solution.

What Solution Areas Are Eligible?

The assessment is available to any Encore client currently on a Microsoft on-premise ERP solution, including Dynamics GP, NAV, AX, and on-premise Business Central. Please note that if you’re currently using Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or Business Central in the cloud, there is no need to participate in the assessment process.

The best Dynamics 365 cloud solution for your business could include Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM solutions. Our team has experience with all these products and is well-positioned to provide you with the best path forward, no matter which approach is right for you.

What’s Involved in the Assessment?

The AIM assessment is comprised of 5 different parts. These include:

  • Kickoff
  • Discovery
  • Analysis
  • Report
  • Survey

Prior to the kickoff, participants will need to fill out the client questionnaire, as well as review assessment client roles and responsibilities. The kickoff meeting will then be scheduled to discuss the assessment overview, timeline, and next steps.

During the discovery, our Encore team of experts will examine the client’s technical situation and business processes, including a review of existing configurations, customizations, and integrations.

Following discovery, we will analyze your technical and functional requirements, and create a final report based on these findings.

What Are the Outcomes from the Assessment?

Encore will meet with the client to discuss the findings and present the final assessment report. This report will include a business objectives overview.

Overall, the completed assessment will equip you with a plan for a path to the cloud that will remove any unnecessary customizations or other sources of complexity by leveraging the expanded functionality of the Dynamics 365 cloud solution. In addition, the findings will include an overview of your current on-prem ISV solutions with recommendations for out-of-the-box functionality in Dynamics 365 or cloud ISV alternatives.

The report will also include recommendations on the ideal migration approach as well as transition next steps.

Once you’ve received the final report, you will also receive a survey from Microsoft, which must be completed.

Most organizations using an on-prem solution should consider participating in the assessment regardless of whether they are ready to move to the cloud in the short term. The assessment is a great tool that provides organizations with an action plan to transition to a Microsoft Dynamics 365 cloud solution, when the time is right for you.

How Much Does It Cost?

The Encore on-premise to cloud ERP assessment is complimentary.

Note that clients are required to complete a post-assessment survey provided by Microsoft. If the survey were not completed, the client would be invoiced for the time used by Encore to complete the assessment.
