Personalization & Right Clicking in Dynamics AX
Right clicking has long been on the end users initial list page, or grid navigation within AX. In the new Dynamics AX release to Web (RTW) right clicking has been re-designed. Here are the main features of right clicking in the new Dynamics AX (RTW).
Right clicking on a list page will show the following three options: (Form, Personalization, Export all rows)

In the first selection; form name, hover over form information and then it shows more information like the form name and the control name.

Right click -> personalize, gives the options to hide, skip tab sequencing for data entry, make a field in editable, move columns left or right and clear all personalization options. Also, end users can customize their work spaces to add forms and reports in the new Dynamics AX with right clicking.

Select form information (Bottom blue link) to view the metadata which will pop up on the right slider:

The last right click available in the new Dynamics AX is “Export all rows” the rows will be exported and opened up in Excel.

Personalization of the form no longer falls under right clicking. Although not available in the RTW version, after Update one for the new Dynamics AX (7), you get the personalize ribbon. To personalize a form or grid, navigate to the options group in the action pane ribbon:

This will open the personalize form pop up:

The first box is the select tool, use this tool to select out a column for further personalization:

Use the second box for rearranging columns on the grid. Click the move box, then click and hold and move the column to the newly desired position:
(Moved column)

The third box in the personalize Grid ribbon bar is the hide icon. Select this icon, then select a field in a column to hide the column.

Navigate off the hidden icon, or close the personalize ribbon to view the column hidden from the grid view:

To add the ‘vendor hold’ column back to the grid, simply select the hidden icon (Third icon in on the personalize ribbon bar) which will display the hidden column. Un-highlight the column for future display:

The fourth Icon is a toggle. Use this to toggle whether a field will appear in the collapsed section header. This is for non-grid views, for forms with header and footers.

The fifth Icon from the left is to skip fields. This is especially useful on journal entries, when using tab and keystrokes to save time. Set skip the journal voucher, which is automatic, in the example below:

Close the personalize ribbon. To test, FIRST close the invoice journal lines, open the lines and put the cursor on the date field in the invoice journal and tab. The cursor should now jump the voucher field and land on the account type field.
The sixth Icon from the left is the Do not edit field toggle. Select this icon, then select a field you wish to prevent yourself from editing in your own session, in future. Once the field is selected it is no longer editable (Until the toggle is switched off).

To test this; close the personalization form, exit out of the journal lines form, go back into the journal lines form and attempt to edit Invoice date, the field will now be un-editable, for that one user’s session:

The seventh Icon in, the plus sign is where to add an additional field to the form. Select the plus sign, then highlight the form you wish to add the extra field to:

This will open the add fields selection criteria box. In this example I have selected the method of payments (MOP) field to display on the main invoice lines grid:

Select insert and then close. The method of payment is now added to the main invoice lines grid, for this user’s view at the end of the grid display:

The eighth icon from the left in the personalize ribbon bar is the manage data icon. From here, import and export files can be generated.

The last icon is the close icon, select this icon to exit out of the personalize ribbon bar:

That all for right clicking and personalizations in the New Dynamics AX (AX 7, update one).
