Projects with a Purpose at Convergence 2014 #CONV14
Today four members of the Encore Team joined the Microsoft Convergence 2014 Volunteer Crew to help preserve and revitalize the signifigant Martin Luther King Historic District.
Part of our team lent a hand at the Truly Living Well-Wheat Street Gardens helping build new raised vegetable beds. Others help construct a new kids pavilion for summer camps and after school classes.
Additional Convergence volunteers went to work at Wheat Street Towers, a high rise apartment building for low income seniors. There they gave some TLC to individual units and enhanced the entrance landscaping and seating areas around the buildings.
Microsoft and Projects with a Purpose ensured that volunteers had an understanding of the area’s historic significance, the current realities it faces, and its hopes for the future. Having a better understanding about what these projects meant to the local residents and hearing the pride in their voices when they spoke of ‘their garden’ was heartwarming. Everyone was so gracious.

One of values Encore embraces is being community minded. This morning was a great opportunity for us to give back to our host city of Atlanta.
