Prophix 11 SP1 Template Studio – What You Need to Know

Let’s take a look at the impending Prophix 11 SP1 update. This update contains the all new Template Studio function. Template Studio’s major goals are usability, flexibility, performance, and feature requests. It has taken over 2 man years to complete this feature and the code base has largely been rewritten. Template Studio includes a host of enhancements based on Prophix Forum’s User Feedback section to enhance the old Template Designer. If you haven’t already, I would recommend taking a look at the Prophix Product Feedback Forum.

Do not fear that your old templates will be incompatible with this new version! There will be an upgrading process for existing templates to make the transition smoother. These are some things to take note of:

• Templates must be upgraded/converted to the new format one at a time.
• Continue to use the existing Template Designer to edit templates if you do not wish to convert.
• Template Studio will open both new and old files. However, not all report components may convert – and any changes will be saved in the new format.
