The much-anticipated year end release for Dynamics GP and GP2016 was made available last week and many of you may still be questioning if you should apply the update or not. Thanks to the diligent communications by Microsoft’s own Terry Heley, I hope to answer that question for you here.

• There are no W2, W3, or W4 form changes
• There are no Payroll electronic filing changes
• 2020 Payroll 941 format changes
  • If you are utilizing GP US Payroll, you need the update installed
• There are large ACA 1095 form changes
  • If you are going to print ACA from GP, you need the update installed
• There are large Payables changes
  • 1099 NEC and 1099 MISC forms and function
    • If you will be printing 1099’s from GP, you need the update installed
  • Payables 1096 form changes
• Payroll Box 14 for COVID Pay allowed on all pay types
  • If you are utilizing GP US Payroll, you need the update installed
• Template issues with recent Office Updates has been fixed (GP 2016 Specific)
  • If you are sending documents from GP as word documents, you need the update installed
• Fixed Assets changes to luxury auto depreciation
  • If you are utilizing GP FA and have Luxury Auto class assets, you need the update installed
• Several additional 18.3 specific issues have been fixed. No more workaround needed
  • Remove MC Fully applied documents from PM HATB
  • Match Excel Copy/Paste Decimals to Currency Setup
  • GL User Defined fields cannot be searched on in Smartlist
  • Print Sales Documents feature not working
  • Payables Batch Approval workflow issues with MFA enabled
  • 1099 descriptions for MISC and NEX not updating
  • HR Mask on SSN
  • VAT – HMRC changes to VAT MTD Period key update format
  • Payables moving of 1099 vendor data to NEX thru utility

This year’s update for US based clients is packed with regulatory required forms and function updates. If you are on GP2016, these features are only available to you in this year end update. If you are on GP2018 or later, some of the features were released to you in the October release but you still need to assess if any of the new features are required for your business.
